![]() ![]() Ironically, since the actors were? are? dating IRL, I just don’t see the chemistry (no thoughts on the real life relationship!! If they’re happy I’m happy!).Īs you grow up, your values might stay consistent but manifest in different ways. Unpopular opinion for sure but I disagree that Jonathan and Nancy are the better pairing. I think Steve's arc in season 5 will be to accept (like actually saying it) that Nancy is with Jonathan and will never be his girlfriend again. That dream died when Nancy broke up with him. He said it as a joke, but deep down he is still haunted by this. That is why he mentioned his dream of going on a road-trip with Nancy and their children. He tries to move on but so he inconsciously compares every girl he dates to Nancy and things just don't work out for him, because none of those girl are good enough, none of them are Nancy. They care for each other and will protection each other because they have been a couple.īut again, I think Steve is still processing the break-up and has not moved on yet. Their couple just stopped functioning.Įven if they don't love each other anymore, the affection may still be there. Nancy simply had some harsh words fueled with both her guilt and the alcohol. It's not like one had cheated on the other. But even without that context, it isn't far fetched to imagine that Nancy and Steve could have a special bond that won't disappear after their break-up. Netlfix needs to stop with the episodes that last more than one hour. My only complaint about Season 4 is that, even though it was fun to watch, the whole Joyce and Murray travelling to Russia to save Hopper wasn't useful and degraded the pacing of the story.Īnd for more pragmatic complaints. She just doesn't have much opportunities to quip because this time around she is around friends, not people she doesn't trust. To me, she is the same loud-mouth teen she was in Season 3. Personally, I have no complaint regarding Robin. I totally imagine Steve sacrificing himself in Season 5 to save Jonathan because he is the guy Nancy really loves. That connection will make them able to be good friends, even though it is possible that Steve hasn't really moved on with his own life. It's simply that they have been in love, they have a connection that hasn't died. I don't think Steve and Nancy have been flirting during this season. I agree, Nancy needs to reaffirm how she feels to both Jonathan and Steve.įor Nancy and Jonathan, Season 4 was a difficult time. Jonathan likewise has gone through a personal crisis with his already struggling Family being directly exploited by the Upside down, and understandably got into drug abuse and getting distant from Hawkins and Nancy as a means of escape, but it's absolutely clear that he still loves Nancy, hence he asks her the question of "are we okay?" ![]() It was also a brief throwaway moment in Season 1, but there's a hint to Steve having a bitter relationship with his Dad, and I'm wondering if that will be addressed in Season 5. I think in his head he imagines settling down with Nancy permanently would solve it, even though Nancy doesn't want that life at all. ![]() I wrote all of this out in tons of paragraphs on this sub the other day - but to summarize - I believe Steve's in an existential crisis, because of how different his everyday life in Hawkins High School was to reality (From being the most beloved guy in school by all the girls, to getting rejected by all the girls at his day job).
